Festa Italiana Kick-off Party 2007
offers food, wine, charity

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 6, 2007) – Enjoy Italian culture, wine and food from nearly 20 local restaurants during the St. Anthony Festa Italiana Kick-off Party 2007 from 4-8 p.m. June 17 at Camden Grandview, 309 E. Morehead St.

The event is being hosted by the St. Anthony Foundation of Charlotte to benefit Nevins Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides job training and placement services for adults with developmental and similar disabilities. Nevins clients do everything from bag groceries at Harris Teeter to fold surgical towels at Carolinas Medical Center.

“We wanted to help Nevins because it helps so many Charlotte area families lead fulfilling lives through its services,” said Dr. Vincent Voci, an event organizer and founding Foundation member. The purpose of The St. Anthony Foundation of Charlotte is to promote Charity through Italian Culture and Italian Business in the Charlotte region. Our main fundraising event each year will be what we expect to very rapidly become the best Italian Festival in the Southeast.
Plus, Voci added, the event is a great opportunity to celebrate Italian culture and cuisine.

For the $50 per person entry fee, attendees will get to taste food and wine from Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Mama Ricotta’s, Nova’s Bakery, Fiamma, Blue, Luce, Toscana, il Posto, Mio Posto, Dolce, Volare, Salute, Firenze, Pasta and Provisions, The Coffeeboss, Ferrucci’s, Nona’ Sweets, CaféMia Gelatoria, PRP Wines, and The Wine Shop.

Johnson & Wales University baking instructor and author Chief Peter Reinhart will be among the special guests attending.

As well as Si Chapman, the 3 time World champion Pizza Acrobat.

The event, limited to 300 people, also will have entertainment and a silent auction featuring signed Carolina Panthers footballs, wine tasting parties and dinners at participating restaurants, among many other items.

Though this is the first year the event is open to the invited public, Foundation members have big plans for the future.

“Each year we will become bigger and bigger until St. Anthony Festa Italiana is the largest Italian festival in the Southeast,” said Salvatore Giuliano, a Foundation board member and owner of Mio Posto Ristorante.

Festa Italiana 2008 offers food, pizza acrobatics,
world’s largest Risotto

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 28, 2008) – Experience pizza dough acrobatics, the best local Italian food, live entertainment and possibly the world’s largest Risotto at the 3rd annual St. Anthony Festa Italiana, May 4.

The event will be from 1 to 7 p.m. at Camden Grandview, 309 E. Morehead St. Tickets are $50 per adult and $10 per child. Capacity is limited to 300.

For their entry fee, attendees will be treated to food from more than 20 of the best  local Italian restaurants and the opportunity to witness history when Chef Gino Machiavelli, of XX restaurant, prepares, cooks and serves a 4-foot in diameter Risotto. Uncle Artie’s stuffed calamari and seafood salad are famous now three years in a row.

“Between Gino’s Risotto, Si Chapman’s world-championship level pizza acrobatics and all the amazing food our participating restaurants are providing, there is no way you won’t have a good time,” organizer Dr. Vincent Voci said.

Festa Italiana is hosted by the St. Anthony Foundation of Charlotte to benefit Nevins Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides adults with developmental and similar disabilities the structure and social tools they need to work and interact in the Charlotte community.

Last year’s event generated $4000 for Nevins. Voci expects to more than double that based on the quantity and quality of the silent auction items: A Mario Andrete Driving Experience, Chef in home Dinners and Lessons, Restaurant dinners, original paintings done especially for the festa, baskets from Dean and Deluca, Morton’s, Arthur’s gift certificates to restaurants across the city, like Blue, and nearly 60 other items.

In addition to the auction, the event will feature a raffle to win an Italian dinner and party cruise on Lake Norman for up to 25 people. Only 250 raffle tickets will be available at $25 each.
